It was at Eden in 1945 that Syed Mushtaq Ali was inducted in the India team on popular demand. “No Mushtaq, no Test” banners came up at Eden forcing the selectors, Duleepsinhji among them, to bring Ali back for the unofficial Test against Australian Services.

Eden Gardens has made available spaces below its five galleries (E, F, G and H blocks) to be set up as Covid-19 quarantine centre.

With more Kolkata Police personnel being sent on quarantine, the city police have requested the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to turn a portion of the Eden Gardens stadium into a quarantine centre exclusively for police personnel.
Since, the administrative functioning majorly happens at Club House, adjacent blocks (B, C, D, K and L) would not be used for it, allowing the association to use them for conducting its activities for its administrative works.)(PTI file photo)

It has been decided that under galleries of E, F, G and H blocks would be used to set up such facilities. In case, if more space is required, then J block might also be used. Such areas would be thoroughly segregated as a safety measure.
