The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), on Wednesday, directed the Chandigarh electricity department to release the applied electric connection within a period of 7 days of application completed in all respect instead of 16 days earlier as per prevailing rules for new connections
The Bombay High Court has stated that electricity bills cannot be considered proof of legitimacy of a building structure. The court made the observation in an effort to curb illegal constructions. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. has agreed to include a statement on its bills and applications clarifying that the bill does not prove authorization or ownership of the premises. The court will continue to hear the matter on January 3.

Buyers can now easily have the electricity connection or bill transferred to their name after the registration of residence.
