Bihar Assembly election: 51.90% voter turnout till 5 pm; Jamui records highest

According to Election Commission data, the highest turnout was in Jamui district at 57.41 per cent followed by Kaimur at 55.95 per cent and Lakhisarai at 55.44 per cent.

300 companies of security personnel to be deployed initially in Bihar in run-up to polls

People familiar with the developments in the Bihar home department said that altogether 300 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) would soon reach Bihar for initiating area domination and confidence-building measures before the three-phase assembly elections in the state.
The CAPF battalions would reach the state before October 10 and would remain deployed across the 243 parliamentary constituencies till seven days before the polling dates.(HT PHOTO.)

8 killed, many injured after truck rams into Bihar wedding party

Lok Sabha elections 2019: 1st phase turnout at 53.06% in Bihar

The four constituencies, Nawada, Gaya, Jamui and Aurangabad, witnessed 2.27% increase in voting as compared to 2014 parliamentary polls. The average polling in the first phase was 53.06%.
