The stand-off between some 3,000 junior doctors and the Madhya Pradesh government continued into the sixth day on Saturday with the former refusing to back down despite the High Court calling their stir illegal.

In a letter to the state’s principal secretary (health),the Junior Doctors Association (JDA), Bihar, claimed that the government, while revising their stipend it on May 9, 2017, had said it would be reviewed every three years.

MGMMCH gears up to win back 50 medical seats

MGMMCH had appointed 31 junior doctors early this month, said Dr Akahuari. He added the appointment of tutors and senior residents, would meet the MCI standard . With Friday’s appointments, MGMMCH now has 44 senior resident doctors against 97 sanctioned posts.

Junior doctors across West Bengal are on a strike since Tuesday after two of their colleagues were brutally attacked and beaten by the relatives of a patient who died at the NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The massive impact of junior doctors’ boycotting their duties was felt at RIMS Ranchi where long queues of patients were seen at all OPDs. Patients particularly had a difficult time at medicine, surgery, skin, eye and orthopaedic OPDs. Some of the patients were seen returning from OPDs due to the seemingly unending queues.

Royal College of Physicians (RCP) discovered a significant number of candidates were credited with the wrong score, because of an error transferring data from one computer programme to another - and may therefore have received an incorrect job offer.
