Kajol was born in Bombay, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee. She made her acting debut in 1992 with Rahul Rawail's Bekhudi and went on to deliver hits like Baazigar, Yeh Dillagi, Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Gupt, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, My Name is Khan, Fanaa among others. She made her OTT debut with Tribhanga in 2021. She is married to Ajay Devgn. In 2002, she was presented with the Rajiv Gandhi Awards by the Mumbai Pradesh Youth Congress. She was honoured with Padma Shri in 2011 by the government of India. She has a younger sibling, Tanishaa Mukherji.
