Kannauj: Complaint against man for forced conversion

The complaint was registered on Saturday after the woman’s father, accompanied by local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, approached the police. According to FIR, the complainant is a tailor in Kannaj’s Gursahaigunj and his daughter is a teacher in a local school.

One-year-old dies in UP, parents accuse hospital of negligence

The child was serious and admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital. The doctor examined him but he died within half an hour, said Kannauj District Magistrate, Rakesh Kumar Mishra.

At least five people have died due to thunderstorm and lightning in various parts of Kannauj district, officials said on Saturday.

Kannauj accident death toll rises to 11

Initial findings have revealed that the bus, which had a valid permit till 2020, had nitrogen-filled tyres to avert tyre burst, police said. After the collision, the fuel tank of the truck first caught fire and it spread quickly to the bus through the tyres because of the nitrogen, said officials.

Auto-driver, aide arrested for robbing, killing 72-year-old woman last year

The two suspects are 22-year-old Mazid, an auto-rickshaw driver and his friend Govind Pal (19). Police said Pal, who is from Kannauj, had gifted the phone to a relative in Rajasthan.

UP man dies in police lock-up, wife alleges brutality

The victim, Ravindra Kumar, who was sick, was dumped outside his house in an unconscious state by two policemen in Bathuniya village, Thatiya. He died when the family was taking him to the hospital in Kannauj.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019:In Kanpur region, only 11 women could get elected in 70 years

The first woman MP of Kannauj was Sheila Dikshit who contested and won in 1984. Dimple Yadav, as a second woman MP won in 2012 and she is seeking a third term in this election. Before her, another woman, Pratima Chaturvedi, contested the seat in 2000 and ended up on the losing side with 22,000 votes.
