The new projects have been cleared by the Central Water Commission as well as the Indus Commissioner after a separate Union Territory of Ladakh was announced last year. These projects will come up in Kargil and Leh districts of Ladakh.

In Ladakh, Leh recorded a low of -15.6 degrees, while Kargil was even colder at -20.4 degrees. The coldest place in the country, Drass, recorded a low of -28.2 degrees.

Gulmarg was the coldest in Kashmir at minus 11 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam froze at minus 7.4 degrees, while Srinagar recorded a low of minus 4.8 degrees and Jammu was cold at 5 degrees.
