Voters in 3 panchayats boycott Mandi LS bypoll over hydroelectric project

The villagers said that the government has not paid any heed to their objections to the project and therefore, the decision to boycott the bypoll had to be taken. People were left with no other choice, they said.

Kinnaur landslide left bus wreckage spanning over 100 metres: 10 points

The bus, along with other vehicles, was buried under the debris after the Kinnaur landslide on Wednesday. It was found in a badly damaged condition. Several people are still feared buried under the debris. The exact number is not known.

Rescuers on Wednesday pulled out the bodies of 10 people after the landslide buried at least five vehicles, including two buses, on a road near Nigulsari village on the national highway.

Major landslide in Himachal's Kinnaur, more than 40 feared buried

The Indo-Tibetan border police (ITBP) said that the incident occurred at around 12:45pm on the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway in the Kinnaur district.

The road link of Kaza subdivision in Lahaul-Spiti district and several villages of Kinnaur district have been cut off from the other parts due to the landslide that followed snowfall.

Two killed as vehicle rolls into gorge in Kinnaur

Two people were killed after the pick-up they were travelling in plunged into a gorge in Kinnaur on Sunday night. The victims, Navjeet Singh, 22, and Kuldeep, 23, residents of Rohru were on their way back to Sangla from Chitkul village when they lost control of the vehicle near Sushang village on the Chitkul-Sangla link road.

Efforts on to retrieve body of retired BSF officer who died on recce to China border

SC Negi, who belonged to Kinnaur, had commanded a BSF battalion in Kargil during the 1999 war between India and Pakistan, and had retired in 2010 after 33 years of service.
