Philippines cancels 'Black Nazarene' parade attended by millions, Covid concerns

For a second consecutive year, Philippines has cancelled the largest religious festival in the country. "We understand (the cancellation) for our safety and health reasons," Father Douglas Badong told a news conference.

Philippines to impose lockdown in Manila to curb Covid-19 Delta variant spread

The Manila capital region, a sprawl of 16 cities home to more than 13 million people, will be placed under the tightest quarantine curbs from Aug. 6 to 20. People cannot leave their homes, except for essential shopping, while indoor and al fresco dining is banned.

Magnitude 6.7 earthquake rocks Philippines, no tsunami threat
