Traffic police asks PWD to close U-turn near new RTR flyover

The Delhi Traffic Police has written to the Public Works Department (PWD) requesting them to remove the U-turn on the stretch, which is becoming the reason for traffic jams on the Outer Ring Road near Subroto Park.

Officials said the work on the project is likely to require traffic diversions on the Benito Juarez Road— the radial road connecting the Ring Road with the Outer Ring Road — which is already clogged with vehicles parked outside the Delhi University’s south campus colleges.

With the inauguration of the second RTR flyover, commuters from south Delhi areas, such as Greater Kailash, Munirka, Hauz Khas and Noida, will finally be able to ditch the already clogged Outer Ring Road and RTR crossing to reach the airport.

The cabinet has also revised the estimated cost of the corridor improvement project— covering the Outer Ring Road stretch connecting IIT-Delhi with NH-8 and areas in the vicinity — from Rs 313.67 crore to Rs 364.8 crore, the government said Friday.

Police have advised commuters to avoid certain roads today and tomorrow, including Outer Ring Road from Mukarba Chowk to Chandgi Ram Akhara, Wazirabad Bridge, roads near ISBT Kashmere Gate, Pushta Road (Khajoori/Shastri Park) and Kalindi Kunj Bridge.
