Sikkim assembly election results: The counting of votes for 32 assembly seats in Sikkim began at 6am amid tight security arrangements.

The NCP churn is a test case for the Supreme Court’s guidelines laid down in the Shiv Sena order. It shows, once again, the weakness of the anti-defection law

 The current NCP defection petitions might also take a year and by then, elections will be so close that the entire proceeding will be infructuous, at least politically.(ANI)

Sikkim CM gets major relief as EC allows him to contest polls; opposition targets BJP

The Election Commission noted that before 2003, disqualification applied in case of conviction for two or more years. Sikkim Chief Minister Tamang was convicted in a corruption case in 1996-97 and jailed for one year in 2017.

Day after 10 SDF MLAs joined BJP, 2 switch to ruling SKM in Sikkim

Sikkim gets new chief minister after 25 years, moves to five-day week

Immediately after being sworn in, the new chief minister declared a five-day week for the state government employees. Earlier, only the second Saturday of each month was a government holiday.
