Village pradhan shot dead in UP’s Jaunpur; SO among 4 suspended

A village head (pradhan) was shot dead, allegedly by two bike-borne miscreants, in Amari village under Sarpataha police area of Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night, police said. Four persons were taken into custody for interrogation in connection with the incident, a police officer said.

Elderly sisters in Varanasi found living with dead body for 10 days

Two elderly sisters were found to be living with the dead body of the younger sibling’s husband in their house in Munshi Ghat area of Varanasi, police said. The police reached the house and recovered the decomposing body. They also found biscuit wrappers near the body.

After Kamala Mills fire, new establishments applying for NOCs to get 10 days to comply with norms

New establishments will have to comply with the fire safety norms within 10 days of applying for no-objection certificates as officers of the compliance cells will carry out an inspection within the stipulated time, according to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
