UPPCL launches online connection facility for industrial consumers

The chief engineer of the Noida division of power utility Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), Virendra Nath Singh said that earlier this scheme, called “jhatpat”, was only for domestic and commercial consumers.

Bombay HC rejects pre-arrest bail pleas of DHFL’s Wadhawan brothers

The Wadhawan brothers are accused of diverting about Rs 4122 crore from the General Provident Fund (GPF) and Central Provident Fund (CPF) deposits of UPPCL to their company.

Prepaid energy meters for all in Uttar Pradesh soon

The UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) is expected to soon file a petition before the electricity regulator to seek its nod for the proposal in this regard in view of the Central government’s mounting pressure for prepaid metering in all the states, including UP.
The use of prepaid smart energy meters will be made compulsory in Uttar Pradesh to help discoms increase their cash flow and enable consumers to have a better control over consumption.(Mint)

Power fraud: Despite dues, UPPCL gave 685 new connections

Even as energy minister Shrikant Sharma on Monday directed the UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) to launch a statewide drive to disconnect power supply of all the consumers above 5 kw load if they have defaulted for two consecutive months, the corporation has lighted upon hundreds of electricity connections that were issued by its officials in gross violation of rules causing huge revenue loss.
As per the letter, 210 such connections were found under the Agra discom, 125 under Lucknow discom and 175 each under Varanasi and Meerut discoms.(Representative image)

OTS: UPPCL loses Rs 1800 cr in bid to recover Rs 37K cr from defaulters

In its desire to wrest pending dues from defaulters, the UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) has ended up losing Rs 1,800 crore that it had to waive off as surcharge (interest) applicable on the bills.
