Celebrated American Wrestler, Matt Morgan, who is one of the participants in Colors’ reality game show, Ring Ka King, that flags off today, is surprised and encouraged by the excitement the sport has garnered in our country. “I’ve traveled to several countries but Indians are the most enthusiastic,” he applauds. “I have played matches in UK and Japan among other countries but
the biggest cheers I have ever heard in my career were in India.”
Matt admits that he didn’t think much about Indian wrestlers until he started shooting for the show. "I was surprised when I heard that Total Nonstop Action (TNA) was coming to India because I had thought that the sport in India was half-dead. But when I arrived here and saw the Indian wrestlers who have their own style, my perception changed," he says somewhat apologetically.
The 330-pound giant has some advice for the Indian contestants who want to make it big on the international area. “Perserverence first and questions second,” he says. “After every match they should ask me questions… question after question. That’s the only way he can get better. Also, patience, a wrestler needs lots of that. He may be focused on becoming a champion but on the way up he can’t be too hard on himself.”
Quiz him on Bollywood and Matt says that though wrestling comes first, he’s open to doing films in India. “I have seen many Bollywood movies but don’t remember their names. I also would not be able to recognise the artistes at a glance. But I’d love to be a part of a Bollywood movie,” says Matt, popularly known as Beast after his
television series, American Gladiator.
