This week, Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati on Sony Entertainment gets its second millionaire. Anil Sinha from Bihar won Rs.1 crore and quit on the final question that could have fetched him Rs.5 crore, the way it did for Sushil Kumar. The season ends next week on Thursday, supposedly with an episode featuring Aamir Khan in the hot seat.

In comparison with the previous four seasons, this spell has seen fewer episodes, but registered more winners than the others. The previous seasons recorded Rahat Taslim (Season 4), Brajesh Dubey (Season 2) and Harshwardhan Nawathe (Season 1) winning a crore each. The third season hosted by Shah Rukh Khan didn’t have a single winner.

“It’s been a fantastic season, with two millionaires so far. Their journeys have drawn phenomenal response from the viewers,” says Bachchan, adding, “Rs.1 crore may not matter to people in urban settings. But a crore is a lot to someone who hasn’t seen anything beyond a four-digit figure in his or her bank account. If the platform can help someone, the purpose of the show is served.”
