"I have always believed in making socially relevant and meaningful cinema and found the concept of the show unique and socially appealing. Hence, I decided to be a part of it," the 70-year-old, known for movies like Golmaal and Baaton Baaton Mein, said in a statement.

The show will attempt to dispel the negativity that prevails around the medical system by taking an honest look at the profession that is increasingly being perceived as being commercialised.

Amol, who featured in TV shows like Kachchi Dhoop and Kareena Kareena earlier, will be seen essaying the character of a renowned doctor who stands for all that is right in this noble profession. He plays the role of the protagonist's (Pooja Gor) grandfather who guides her in her journey as a doctor.

The show, which will be aired on Life OK, is tentatively titled Roshini, but a confirmed name is yet to be zeroed in on.
