Avika Gor, the youngest ‘bahu’ on TV and the first contestant on Colors’ Kitchen Champion, that kicks off tomorrow at 1 pm, is mighty excited about entering the kitchen. The class eight student of Ryan International School, Kandivli, cooked a dish competing against Punpunwali (Smita Singh) from the daily soap Bhagyavidhata.

The competition started with finding the recipe sent by a viewer, locating the ingredients and finally rustling up the dish as quickly as can be. “Mine was a simple snack but making it was not as easy. Punpunwali and I were racing to find ingredients. Eventually, it turned out to be a fun kitchen exercise. My mother was very happy,” she gushes.

Gor admits that as much as she craves to learn how to cook, she’ll have to wait for at least two years before her mum lets her into the ‘rasoi’. Reason: “She thinks I’m too young to work in the kitchen right now, though Maggi and tea are exceptions that she allows me to make. I can’t wait to start cooking because that’s a passion apart from acting that I want to continue along with studies.”

Anandi, as she’s addressed on the sets, says that she enjoyed ‘uncle’ Ronit Roy’s company on the sets. “He talks nicely and is too good as a host. When you see the show, you’ll agree. He knows how to cook and that comes in handy for him,” she points out.

Balika Vadhu’s leading lady went back to school. “We had two weeks of school before it shut for the vacations. I scored a percent more than Avinash (Mukherjee, her co-star who plays Jagya) but that’s hardly a big deal. Anyway, I’m thoroughly enjoying my classes,” she chuckles.

Buzz is that Anandi’s character would grow up and Gor wouldn’t be around. Gor has no clue about it rumour: “I don’t pay attention to all this. The day I’m told that Anandi will grow up, I’ll know. Till then, I’m Jagya’s beendni. Khamaghani.”
