The Salman Khan-hosted reality show, Bigg Boss, has a reputation for dramatic and often outrageous developments. But a contestant getting arrested for an act inside the house is a first.

On Monday (December 16), Lonavla police officials went on the sets of the reality show, Bigg Boss, and arrested contestant Armaan Kohli after a complaint was filed by co-contestant, British actor-singer Sofia Hayat, accusing him of physically assaulting her. This happened during an assigned task (telecast in the first week of December), where an argument between the two ended with Armaan allegedly hitting Sofia with a mop. On Tuesday (December 17), however, was released on bail.

While former contestant Kamya Punjabi says she was "expecting something like this" to happen, Armaan’s father, Rajkumar Kohli, hints that whatever happened was all part of the show. It makes you wonder if this is all real, or an that somehow took an unforeseen turn.

Kamya, who witnessed the act that Armaan was for, recalls, "At the time (of the incident), things were very heated. Sofia was just fooling around, but Armaan reacted sharply and said things, and then she reacted too. She had urged Bigg Boss to evict Armaan, failing which she would take some other action against him once she was out. And she did."

Kamya adds that she too was asked to give a statement to the cops, along with other evicted contestants. She adds, "They (Armaan and Sofia) could have sorted it out then and there, but they didn’t, and it has come to this."

Officials from Colors channel chose not to comment on the development.

Waris Pathan, noted criminal lawyer, says, "Section 324 will not be applicable as there was no fracture. It was a task given on the show, not intentional, but done in the spur of the moment. In BB, contestants have to complete tasks, but without using violence. But when Kushal hit Andy, what happened? Nothing. I feel this was a . Perhaps that’s why Sophia filed an FIR four days after coming out."

Audiences are enjoying such reality shows: Dr Jyoti Sangle, psychiatrist

"
It’s a personal choice. There’s nothing wrong in filing a complaint. If Sofia felt victimised, she has the right to ask for protection and justice," says psychiatrist Dr Jyoti Sangle. She feels that people love to see celebrities fighting on screen.

"The meaning of entertainment seems to be changing and audiences are enjoying such reality shows, which is not a good or healthy trend," she adds.
