Bigg Break for Ashu

Kaushik will join Big Brother in its second week, though he agrees that communication will be a major problem. Nikhil Taneja tells more.

Ashutosh Kaushik is on a roll. The dhaba-owner from Saharanpur recently won the controversial Bigg Boss 2. He has now been called to represent India in the show’s original avatar, UK’s Big Brother.

VH1, which airs Big Brother, is an MTV India partner, and the nexus is the reason behind Kaushik’s selection.

As usual, Kaushik is nonchalant about his third successive reality show, after MTV Roadies 5 and Bigg Boss 2. “It’s nothing to do with the money,” he insists. “As long as I get work, I’ll keep appearing on reality shows.”

Another reason that he cites behind his participation is the fact that he hasn’t been getting any acting offers of substance — and that has irked him quite a bit. “Bas dhakke khaa raha hoon Bombay mein,” he sighs. “No one wants to take me in a movie.”

Kaushik will join Big Brother in its second week, though he agrees that communication will be a major problem. “I can understand Raja Chaudhary’s English,” he explains. “But I won’t be able to understand the funny accents of the angrez. For the first time, I’m in trouble because I don’t know English.”

The gabroo jaat is keeping his fingers crossed. He isn’t interested in watching the show’s first week or getting to know about the contestants though. “After surviving Roadies which had 13 of the biggest k******, I can manage anywhere. I’m not worried,” says Kaushik. He adds that Big Brother contestants will be worried about their ‘izzat’ unlike the Roadies contenders.
