Singer Cheryl Cole, who is recovering after being struck down by malaria, might pull out of talent show X-Factor.

Cheryl, the contest judge, had already planned to leave the popular show at the end of the year to concentrate on launching her career as a singer in the US, but friends say her illness may prompt her to quit now.

"There’s a small chance Cheryl may not return to The X Factor at all this year," dailystar.co.uk quoted a friend as saying.

"There was talk of her possibly leaving at the end of the current series so she could concentrate on cracking the US and also be a judge on American X Factor. But with her illness she might not even come back for this series. It all depends how quickly she recovers," the friend added.
