Sony’s CID and Crime Patrol to air thrice a week, have better TRPs than regular fiction shows

Starting July 1, Sony Television is all set to triple your weekend thrills. Their popular crime show CID will be on air from Friday to Sunday and their other crime show, Crime Patrol — Dastak, will also air thrice a week. The shows are so popular that they get better ratings than many fiction shows and the channel will air re-runs of CID at 7.30 pm as Shubh Vivaah goes off air tonight.

Actor Shivaji Satam, who has been playing ACP Pradyuman since 1998, couldn’t be happier. He says, “Our show, even on repeat telecasts, gets better ratings than movies aired on weekends.” The channel’s plan to not repeat the telecast for 2-3 months after the current episode airs, also ensures good TRPs. “But I feel bad for viewers who miss the current show as there are no repeats. Many fans have called to say that I should put in a word with the channel for repeat telecasts,” says Satam. “With three episodes a week, we will have to work harder but there’s no crying about it,” he adds.

Sony’s other hit show, Crime Patrol (CP), is also very popular with viewers. “We show a mirror to the society. Each story has a lesson as we analyse the crime and the criminal,” feels Anoop Soni, host of CP. He adds that their show works because of its connect with the audience. The current season of CP-Dastak has been in TAM’s list of the top 10 shows since its April start.

Iyer says, “Weekend audiences look forward to Crime Patrol which has delivered great ratings. Our repeats on Sunday were doing well but now we want to give the audiences fresh episodes too.”
