Dance ka hai ye jalwa!

Delhi-based contestants of Just Dance, Surjeet Bansal and Meher Malik, get chatty on their recent visit to the Capital.

Surjeet Bansal, one of the finalists of dance reality show, Just Dance, is a fine example of how life gives second chances. Bansal, a Delhiite, was ousted from the dance show’s top 21, but was called back after a contestant opted out due to health reasons.

Talking about the show, Bansal says, “It was my dream to meet and hug Hrithik Roshan. I have been his fan ever since I saw him in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. I started following him and understood what dance is.” Talking further about Roshan as a judge, Bansal says, “Hrithik has always been like a friend to us, never a judge and that is the best part about him.” He says, The 24-year-old specialises in Bollywood dance and stopped studying after class 11, deciding to pursue his passion for dance seriously. Talking about his 8-month-old daughter Saanvi, Bansal says, “Saanvi is lucky for me. Also, she shares her birthday with Hrithik — January 10.”

Meher Malik, one of the finalists of Just Dance, has become a household name with her gravity-defying belly dancing skills. The 22-year-old Delhiite, who took professional training in belly dance in London, Paris and Egypt, says being able to show her talent on front of Hrithik Roshan is a huge privilege. “Hrithik is one of the prime reasons I chose to be part of this show. Even my first dance performance was on Hrithik’s song, Ek Pal Ka Jeena, in school. The best part about him is his non-judgmental attitude,” says Malik. “I am enjoying learning different dance forms and exploring new facets of my personality as a dancer. I always use to think that I can’t do anything else other than belly dance. But this show has taught me a lot and made me challenge myself."
