Eyes peeled for top talent

Yet another dance show, in a similar kind of studio, but hey, I see this is something different! This is not just dancing.

This is a show on cheerleading, which has very intelligently combined sports and entertainment to give Indian audiences something new and exciting. And who could come up with such a concept but my Chaiyya Chaiyya co-dancer, Shah Rukh Khan. I am the judge of the second episode of Knights and Angels and I’m here to check out who can win the hearts of the audience in a packed stadium.

A step here, a swish there, and the girls have started their act. Bollywood music has been jazzed up to give the girls ample scope to swing their arms, sway their hips, and leap in the air for some spectacular moves. The smart use of the props with their funky costumes gives the right edge of sportiness spiced with sexiness.

I am impressed by the girls competing to be Shah Rukh Khan’s Angels. They are smart, savvy, and so confident. They do not have any stage fright. I love their eagerness to prove themselves and their bindaas attitude. When I was in school and college, I used to be shy. I invariably walked with my head down. I did the occasional stage shows, but this is something else. Me at 18-19 and they at the same age — it’s worlds apart.
