As the fourth season of the Peeping Tom series Bigg Boss draws closer, some of the participants open up to us as to why they are joining the show. They are Rahul Bhatt and Bunty.
Rahul Bhatt: Fitness trainer
“I have two monkeys on my back that I need to get rid of — Mahesh Bhatt and David Headley”, Bhatt’s son, Rahul Bhatt, told HT City moments before entering Bigg Boss, the Colors reality show that went on air last night. Infamous for his involvement with David Coleman Headley, prime accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Rahul hopes that the show will help him clear his name.
“During the entire episode, I was called a traitor; I was even interrogated by law enforcement agencies. My relatives disowned me. But, the ordeal made me strong, which will help me stay in the house,” says Rahul, who ditched a film under his father’s banner to participate. “People will now see me the way I am, and not through the prism of Mahesh Bhatt or Headley.” But his father didn’t approve, he says. “He warned me, ‘This is a show of infamy. Hero banne se pehle villain mat bano’.”
Bunty: Ex-convict
Bunty, the thief on whose life Dibakar Banerjee based his film, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, says Bigg Boss show will help him build his image. “Mera naam bahut kharaab ho gaya tha. Mujhe lagta hai main yeh theek kar sakta hun. The TRPs will be good, which will help this happen,” he reasons.
That’s not to say he’s not popular already. “People ask for my autographs and want to get clicked with me. They recognise me as the guy who inspired Oye Lucky…,” he says. Talking about the film, he says there were some “lies” in it. But, the love story between actors Abhay Deol and Neetu Chandra was not one of them. “Meri colony mein meri ek friend thi. Hum shaadi karna chaahte the, lekin phir case ban gaya.”
Bunty, who now runs a detective agency, adds, “I live with a friend. My family disowned me many years ago.”
