We had reported on January 30 that writer Rajita Sharma had taken Dheeraj Kumar of Creative Eye Productions to court for being denied credit for her creative inputs to their show, Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, that is currently airing on Colors. The first hearing was on February 5. Last Thursday, April 8, the court finally ruled in Kumar’s favour.

Says Kumar, “Given the evidences and after hearing both sides of the argument, the case didn’t make sense, so the Bombay High Court ruled in our favour.” Writer- former-co-producer and creative head of Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam, Sharma wasn’t available for a comment.

Case history
Reportedly, she had been shown the door following creative differences with Kumar. Her close associates maintain that she was involved with the pre-production of the show for eight months before its telecast. They point out that she was given credit in the initial episodes but her name was subsequently dropped.

Says one of them on condition of anonymity: “Dheeraj Kumar had become abusive on the sets and Rajita was forced to quit. He says it was because of creative differences with the channel but actually it was because she couldn’t take the pressure. Had she been able to bear it, she wouldn’t have left her most ambitious debut production."

Dheeraj Kumar, the current producer of the show, has always maintained that “the case had no meat” and “he was not worried”.Buzz now is that the primetime Colors soap toplining Gaurav Khanna and Yami Gautam, may be shifted to a new slot. But Kumar insists that it will continue to air at 9 pm because the ratings have been growing consistently.

“The ratings even during IPL Season 3 are growing by plus 3 points on an average, every week. The channel is really happy,” he exults. You wonder if he would ever agree to work with Sharma again? He says, “I wish Rajita great success in her career. If an opportunity for us to work together comes up, I will think over it then.”
