Krushna Abhishek is sorry. “I apologise to my mama (maternal uncle, actor Govinda),” says the actor-comedian, who earlier this year inadvertently offended the senior Bollywood star on his TV show.

Krushna says, he didn’t say anything derogatory on his show, Comedy Nights Bachao, but as Govinda is his elder and he felt hurt, so Krushna is apologising publicly.

Last week, Govinda shot for an episode for The Kapil Sharma Show, and not for his nephew Krushna’s comedy show. The former was hurt by a remark made by Krushna on his ongoing comedy TV show. Krushna had said, “Maine Govinda ko mama rakha hai” in an episode starring Shah Rukh Khan. Govinda hasn’t spoken to him “properly” in four months since that episode aired.

He adds, “I didn’t say anything derogatory. But he is elder to me, and has felt hurt, so I am apologising to him publicly. I love my mama a lot and have a lot of regard for him. Whenever I have tried to make amends or apologise, he has been angry with me. He keeps saying, ‘How could you say that?’ We haven’t met in four months as both of us have been busy.”

When Krushna made the comment on his show, he never expected it to backfire so badly. “It was a punch line. Instead of saying, ‘I am not a small-time actor, but I have Govinda as my mama’, we reversed the sentence. But I never thought it would lead to this. Now, I want to make things right between us. I don’t want him to be upset with me anymore,” says Krushna.
