Be it Akshara's saris and lehengas in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai or the cut of Parvati's blouse and the work on her dupatta in Rangrasiya, fashion on television has always had a huge influence on the masses. Several Indian women are seen imitating the style statements made by female characters on various TV shows. They love dressing up in similar fashion for weddings, festivals and other occasions.

A decade ago, Tulsi's saris in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Komo-lika's backless blouses in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Ramola's bindis in Kahin Kissi Roz were all the rage. Today, the following for such trends has increased. Sakshi Tanwar's hip-length kurtas in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Surbhi Jyoti's mix of ethnic and modern outfits in Qubool Hai and Mansi Salve's Chinese-collared blouses in Pyar Ka Dard Hai are big hits.
