Jeff Probst warns Indian TV host of Survivor ‘blues’

After Season 22, the Emmy-award winner has signed on for Seasons 23 and 24 of the reality show.

Reportedly, actors Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgn and John Abraham are in the running to anchor the Indian adaptation of Survivor on Star Plus. Even before someone is finalised, Jeff Probst, the Emmy Award-winning anchor of the 22 seasons of the show currently running on BIG CBS Prime, advises the Indian host of Survivor. The Indian adaptation is expected to be shot in Philippines this summer.

“I didn’t know that Survivor would last for 22 seasons and counting. If I knew, at least I would have chosen a different wardrobe,” beams Probst, who will be returning as host for Seasons 23 and 24 and has shot for the recent season in Nicaragua.

“After anchoring so many seasons of the show and shooting in so many different parts of the world, I’d like to see what India does with the format. Most importantly, after wearing so many kinds of blue shirts across seasons and locations, I want to see the kind of blue shirts the Indian host is made to wear. In fact, if given a chance, he should choose another colour for the wardrobe.”

Given that the casting is on for the Indian version of the show, to be produced by Miditech along with an international line company, would he like to be a part of it too? “I wouldn’t want to be in India simply because Survivor is a game of social politics. And because I don’t know the social norms, I would be at a huge disadvantage,” reasons Probst. “I think the show is a great test of so many skills — physical, mental, patience, manipulation, reading people, making big moves, trust and ultimately self-preservation.”
