The hugely popular Color’s show Na Aana Is Des…Laado is taking an 18-year leap, which brings in new entrants, Simran Kaur and Vaishnavi Dhanraj, as Raghav and Sia’s twin daughters. The show will also move from the village of Veerpur to a posh locality in Delhi.
The show’s lead, Ammaji, played by Meghna Malik, will be seen raising her grand daughter Kaur, while her daughter Amba will raise the other twin, Dhanraj.Malik however isn’t yet aware of her character development. "It is too early for me to comment on how Ammaji is going to turn out to be, because it is the writer who weaves the story. We haven’t shot the new episodes yet, so I can’t say much about my character." But Ammaji is a phenomenon in herself, she says. "Anybody on the streets who doesn’t know me, recognises me as
Ammaji. TV shows have a huge impact. I got to play a very powerful character," Malik says.
She doesn’t think the rustic character needs a makeover. “Ammaji doesn’t need to change. Her appearance is hardly of any concern; it’s her personality that people remember. She is not ashamed of her attire because she always feels she’s the center of the whole world. Why does she have to go by where she has landed up?” Malik reasons.

{{/usCountry}}She strongly feels that the show imparts a positive message. “Our research says that the gender ratio is not equal. I see a woman as strong as a man. I am proud of being a woman. It is sad that a certain section of society still prefers male child to female. But we surely make the world a better place to live in,” she signs off.
