'Nothing scares me’

Producer-director BP Singh, whose show Aahat completes 15 years, finds the idea of ghosts laughable and considers shows like Sssh Koi Hai and Mano Yaa Na Mano weak.

The idea of ghosts is laughable. I never believe anyone who says he’s encountered spirits," insists producer-director BP Singh whose spine-chiller Aahat on Sony completes a 15-year-run this week. "I have never been spooked even when I have shot in scary locations, like the fields in Satara, deserted palaces in Gujarat and eerie asylums."



Talk about the competition and he says that he has never considered shows like Sssh Koi Hai and Mano Yaa Na Mano weak. He credits the consistency of his show to stories that are "convincingly scary and have stood the test of time".



Not many changes

Aahat is going into its third season and Singh is confident he can send shivers down many spines. "The stories will be interesting and crisp," he promises.

For now, the show is running a special series featuring TV actors. "A story may run longer than the usual couple of episodes. The actors participate in a reality show and die one by one," he informs.



Aahat 2, that started almost a year ago, ran only on weekends till a month ago when it was turned into a daily show. Doesn’t that add to the production team’s workload?

But the switch hasn’t upped the TRPs. “You’d be foolish to expect high ratings from a daily horror show that airs at 11 pm. We have got rating of three and four and that’s good. We get an average two points a week,” he explains, adding with a smile, “It continues to scare people but after 15 years of Aahat, nothing scares me!”
