Today, ‘B’ is the new ‘K’ on the tube. Even Ekta Kapoor’s next is titled

at least at this very moment. Channel surf at primetime.

Ekta switches to 'B'

Here are the B-boomers right now:
* (Sapna Baabul ka) Bidaai
The show doesn’t technically start with the letter ‘B’ but it’s commonly known as Bidaai. The tearjerker won many awards last year and is currently the No. 1 show on television. It’s about two sisters and their trials and tribulations, of course. There are two betis and a beta in the main family, two betas in the sasural, a badi maa, bahus galore and a perennially sobbing babuji.

* Banoo Main Terri Dulhann
Another TRP-sharp shooter, it revolves around star-crossed lovers who are kept apart by an evil sister, mean friends and village belles. An alleged off-screen romance between the lead couple has kept the interest alive. Dutiful betis and betas, evil badi bahens, docile bahus, and Banaras, the perfect setting for the punar janam love story.

* Bandhan Saat Janmon ka
A small town drama which pulls in small town viewers, this one tackles issues like dowry and illiteracy. This twist-laden plot helps this soap hold its own in the 7 pm slot. Bandhan between the miyan-biwi.

* Baa Bahoo aur Baby
Weekends aren’t only about reality and sobbing eviction episodes, they’re also about Gattu getting lost-and-found and Baby finally growing up. It doesn’t set the ratings on fire, but the show has its loyal family viewers.
