a high-on-special-effects mythological-fantasy produced by Smita Thackeray, and directed by her older son Rahul for Colors, is supposedly falling back on track after waiting in the wings for over two-and-a-half years.

It revolves around the 10th avatar of Lord Vishnu. The show has just been given the green-signal. It’s expected to go on air after IPL comes to an end.

The storyline blends mythology with a modern setting. Thackeray’s younger son was supposed to emulate Kalki’s childhood. The character it’s said would grow up to be a hip urban dweller. Rahul Productions, our sources say, have shot 12-15 episodes with various actors including Amarr Upadhyay, Jaya Bhattacharya and Ashutosh Rana (the show’s villain).

The post-production including dubbing and SFX has also been completed. Buzz is that the show has been held up because of its high budget requirements. When asked, both Smita and Rahul Thackeray refused to comment on the current status of the show, pointing out that the channel has restricted them to speak.
