Kiddish saali tries to make peace between her dost and his college buddy. At a party, she puts up a puppet show with a blonde Barbie and Ken.. punctuates the performance with (badly rendered) songs.
Dost and buddy turn moist-eyed reliving their purani jeans days. Finally, saali sings Yeh dosti.. so badly you want to break the TV. Even Indian Idol rejects can’t have been as awful!
Something’s not right
* Namak Haram, 9.30 pm, Real
Narayani Shastri looks the ramrod-straight IAS officer in her petal pink sari and hair-in-a-bun. She seethes as a slimy factory owner tries to sweet talk her. It’s all very well-played out.. her shrewd father-in-law and posh businessman-husband.. and yet, something isn’t quite right. Can’t spot it.. yet.
Love, lies and gaalis
* Splitsvilla, MTV, 10 pm
Even the air in this villa is heavy with bad vibes. The girls scream bloody murder, pass snide comments about each other’s figures, even get down to actual catfights. The boys’ conversations are littered with beeps (read abuses). And the one interesting dude (Ashutosh) was ousted last week. What is it with reality shows promoting losers?
Dadi ki party
* Doli Sajaa Ke, Sahara One, 10 pm
All the bahus and betis of various soaps unite. Everyone has an invite to dadi Aroona Irani’s great-grandson’s birthday party. The women arrive in blindingly bling saris, ooh and aah over the kid and then exchange their ghar ghar ki kahanis.
Turns out most of them have issues like cheating husbands, errant sisters-in-law and the odd unfriendly bhootni. But as one of them wisely points out, “Chhoti zindagi hai.. thodi khushiyaan hain aur bahut saare gham.” Rightly said.. after all, isn’t that what keeps the TRPs from dropping?

The episode begins with the elimination segment and backtracks to 48 hours before.. very cool! Ditto for the sealed envelope which the roadies receive (in the promos, the contents of the envelope glowed gold.. Pulp Fiction hangover?) What’s not so cool however, is the amusement park task. Contestants projectile vomit after a yucky milkshake and several rounds of a tummy-lurching ride. The twist in the end has the roadies fuming (and us too).. Sufi did not deserve to go and Palak does not deserve to stay.
