Bollywood stars aren’t the only ones to face fan frenzy and receive marriage proposals or letters written in blood. Our television actors, too, enjoy a fair share of this fandom. And while they can’t thank their fans enough for all the love and admiration, there are times when extreme behaviour of some fans puts them off or leaves them worried. Here, stars share their crazy fan stories:
The actor was left in a fix when she got to know that a fan was refusing to take her exam till she gets to talk to Rashami
A fan from Bangalore was telling her parents that she won’t go for her exam if I don’t talk to her. So I spoke to her, made her feel comfortable and wished her good luck for her exam. Also, there are fans who send gifts ranging from a silver coin to a fancy clutch and even a Barbie Doll. I don’t want my fans to compromise with their education or send me expensive gifts!
Anas Rashid
Anas was shocked to know that a fan waited for him at a bus stop for nine days.
This one time, when I was shooting a historical show, a fan from Hyderabad got my phone number. Not just that, she came all the way to Mumbai from Hyderabad and I was told that she had been waiting for me at Oshiwara bus stand for the last nine days. If anyone would go up to her and ask her what she is doing there, she would only ask if I had sent them. Otherwise she wouldn’t bother to explain. I respect the love and affection that fans have for us actors, but leaving the safe premises of your house to meet your favourite actor is not safe. I always ask them not to do so.
Someone got the actor’s name tattooed
Jerry, a 19-year-old fan from Northern Sudan, got my name tattooed. He says that he’s my biggest fan. But a tattoo! I was overwhelmed and shocked. Earlier, when a girl was about to get my name tattooed, I somehow stopped her, but this boy doing the same was a surprise. I don’t want fans to go to such extremes. Getting inked is a big thing. It stays with them forever. I’m blessed to have loving fans but I’ll always discourage them for tattoos.
Shashank Vyas
A fan wanted to adopt Shashank aka Jagya!
One old man from Gujarat came on the sets of my daily soap to see me. So, I met him out of regard and he hugged me. But I was stunned when he said that he had come to adopt me. He said he had seen me in his dreams and God had instructed him to adopt me as I’m his son. The man was hell bent on his mission and I didn’t even know how to react. I allowed him to click pictures with me and then I left for home. I understand the love of fans but I don’t want them to go overboard like this. Just because my on-screen character is loved by elders doesn’t make me a fan’s son!
Rithvik Dhanjani
A customised guitar from a fan left Rithvik surprised.
I had gone for a three-day cruise event, where I had to perform and I don’t know how a teenager fan managed to follow me on board. I had said in an earlier interview that my guitar was broken, so she bought a brand new guitar for me with my name engraved on it. It was a big gesture that left me really surprised. But fans, too, should respect our privacy. One thing I don’t appreciate is being flooded with calls from unknown numbers. It does get disturbing!
