"Jhooth to main bolti nahin. I’m getting married,” chuckles Ashita Dhawan when asked about the rumours of her impending marriage with boyfriend Shailesh Gulabani, who was also her partner on a couple’s laughter competition, Hans Baliye. The couple has been together for four years and plans to tie the knot early next year.

So who popped the question? “No one,” says Dhawan, adding that the decision to get married was mutual. “We’ve had so many fights through our four years together. The last one happened recently and we decided to part ways,” says Dhawan. But then the couple realised that they couldn’t do without each other. “That triggered the decision to take our relationship to the next level,” she says.

When asked if the parents have met, Dhawan says that it’s one of those things that’s still pending. “Shailesh met my father a week ago. I was excited because my show Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai completed two years that day, and their meeting had went off really well too. You can’t imagine what a relief it is when these things get sorted,” says Dhawan, “Now, over the next few weeks, our parents will meet and then we’d finalise the marriage date.”
