What all would you carry if you were given just two suitcases, and told to pack for 90 days of isolation? Would you stick to the necessities or stock up on your favourite stuff? An investigation into what the 14 contestants inside the Bigg Boss house took along revealed that everything from scores of stilettos to fluffy teddy bears made it in. Pakistan-based actor Veena Malik, for instance, has taken 20 pairs of high heels to match each of her outfits. "She loves her shoes so much so that she has neatly lined them up in front of her bed," said a source from the host channel, Colors.
While actor Ashmit Patel has carried the maximum number of clothes and a yoga mat, former dacoit Seema Parihar has carried only five pairs of salwaar kameez.
Actor Shweta Tiwari has two pink teddy bears gifted by her daughter, Palak, while model Anchal Kumar loaded her suitcase with junk jewellery. For Begum Ali, it was sequined saris.
That’s not all. The women have also stocked up on waxing strips, make-up and hair straightening machines. While TV actor Sara Khan takes care of the threading, Veena and Anchal doll up the ladies.
Interestingly, a raid was conducted and several things were confiscated. “A check was conducted while contestants were in their vanity van, and forbidden items, including biscuits and one hair curling device, were taken away,” the source said.
Former participants say these restrictions make living difficult in the Bigg Boss house. “I had taken 250 tea bags with me, but they were confiscated. They said they would send me some every week, but they sent me only around 3. They realised I was addicted to tea and used that against me!” says ex-Miss World Diana Hayden, who was part of the show’s second season.
Model-actor Anupama Verma, who participated in the first season, says, “It was tough being there. They didn’t even let me take my make-up kit. Finally, they allowed me my kajal pencil and lip balm, because I said I can’t live without them. They didn’t allow me to take my prayer book, but other people had it. I don’t know the basis on which they discriminated.”
