, a big blow as we were expecting it to continue at least till Diwali. I heard rumours about it two weeks ago but I couldn’t believe till I got an official confirmation. It has not sunk in yet,” says the actor, who plays the lead role of Suhaana in the tele serial.

SGP was a story about the taming of Suhaana, who is married into a joint family. With no villains or vamps, but with situations creating comedy and drama. “The show achieved an iconic position that not even the highest rated show was able to achieve. SGP was a quality product, which brought fresh content on TV. Like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Balika Vadhu who brought in a new wave, SGP did the same in terms of story and treatment,” says Ragini, for whom it isn’t easy to let go off her role. “I’m very upset and my sorrow has no boundaries. Everyone is wondering why the channel is closing down the show when it is getting good ratings,” says Ragini.

In the last two years, SGP was a slot leader with TRP ratings between 2.5 and 3, which means success for a show. However, SGP has seen the glory of TRPs to the tune of 4.5-5 too, and has featured in the top 10 list. Ragini has not planned her next move yet. “There have been offers but I have not locked anything. I might do television, films or even a play,” she says.

On the other hand, Zama Habib, producer of SGP, adds, “I am fine with the show going off air. It is better to close down a show when it is a hit and at its peak than after it is dragged on endlessly.”
