  • With 4 more phases to go and election results approaching on March 10, Hindustan Times decoded how the political parties especially the opposition in Uttar Pradesh fielded the sons and wives of criminals to avoid the mafia tag on them. From SP-SBSP-RLD alliance to BSP and AIMIM, every party has in some way or the other given tickets to wives and sons of criminals who are behind bars. For example, Samajwadi Party ally SBSP fielded gangster-turned-politicians Mukhtar Ansari's elder son Abbas in Mau Sadar seat. On the other hand, gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's career has almost ended. Watch this video to find out why.
