Covid update: Delhi 90% recovery rate; govt exams delayed in Maharashtra

From the recovery rate in the national capital crossing 90%, to state public service examinations being postponed in Maharashtra - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that only 3,700 Covid beds in the city's hospitals are currently occupied. He added that testing would be doubled in the capital. Delhi's Covid tally has crossed 1.65 lakh with over 4,300 deaths so far. The main Opposition party, Indian National Congress, targeted the central government over the decision to conduct two important entrance examinations - JEE-Main, and NEET-UG - in the month of September. Congress' Randeep Surjewala posed questions like whether the government would guarantee zero infection among students and faculty members, and provision of transportation facilities amid on-off lockdowns in many states. Meanwhile, the West Bengal government announced the extension of current lockdown measures till September 20, with total lockdown on September 7, 11 and 12.
