“The youth and citizens across the country are united in the view that governments must put systems in place to prevent paper leaks. Under Bhagwant Mann's government, six papers have been leaked, affecting 4.5 to 5 lakh candidates; Bhagwant Mann needs to answer for this, apologize, and take immediate action against his Ministers,” he added.

“We feel that the Leader of the Opposition has the right to say whatever he wants, and then the government can reply. This is democracy, but when Rahul Gandhiji stands up to speak, all the Ministers and those MPs from the BJP start disturbing his speeches, not allowing him to speak… This will be very dangerous for India's parliamentary democracy itself,” he added.

Parliament monsoon session LIVE: BJP MP Pratap Sarangi criticised Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the alleged police action against student protesters, saying the Congress leader had made a "false accusation" against Union home minister Amit Shah.

"The suffering of these children causes pain to all of us. However, making such an irresponsible statement—claiming it happened on the Home Minister's orders—is truly condemnable; would he lose his stature if he apologized?" Sarangi said, reported ANI.

"As a responsible citizen, he ought to apologize because he has done something wrong—he leveled a false accusation—yet he refuses to apologize," he added.

Jitendra Singh cannot answer for the lathi charge, the disrespect shown to women, or the firing of AK-47s; only Amit Shah can answer that. In a press conference on Wednesday evening, the Congress MP sought answers from Shah and the BJP-led government, while calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack the union home minister over the security crackdown on protestors during the CJP's ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20.

Parliament monsoon session LIVE: Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh on Thursday defended Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's remarks on the alleged use of pellet guns during the July 20 student protest, saying that the BJP and the government have an opportunity to respond to the allegations instead of evading the issue.

“If one has to apologise in this country for speaking the truth, then a very strange situation will arise. If allegations are being made, there is an opportunity to respond, yet the BJP and those in the current government are trying to evade the issue. This is condemnable," Singh told news agency ANI during the monsoon session of the parliament.

Parliament monsoon session LIVE: In a video message posted on X, CJP’s national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the anti-paper leak amendment bill places too much focus on punishment after leaks happen instead of improving the examination process to stop such cases in the first place.

“You have been talking about everything after the paper leak, whether it is fast-track courts, harsher punishments or penalties. But you have not talked about what you are doing to stop paper leaks,” he said.

Instead, he called for the Centre to focus on reforms within the National Testing Agency (NTA), greater transparency in the examination schedule, calendar and syllabus, better monitoring of vendors, preventing blacklisted vendors from returning to the system, and carrying out physical and digital audits to prevent paper leaks.

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, was passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday through a voice vote amid heavy sloganeering from the opposition.
