Covid update: Delta rages in China; Bengal to release convicts; J&J’s pull-out

- From IMCR’s study on Covaxin to J&J withdrawing application seeking vaccine’s approval, here are the top updates on coronavirus. An ICMR study revealed that Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin is effective against the Delta Plus strain of coronavirus. Meanwhile, China has imposed a lockdown to control the spread of the Delta variant which has now spread to 32 of its provinces with over 300 reported infections. Also, Johnson & Johnson has withdrawn its application for accelerated approval of its vaccine in India. The company issued a statement saying that it is still committed to bringing vaccines to India.
