Covid update: Modi study by Cambridge; vaccine price; NEET attendance

From the Union health minister commenting on the possible price of a dose of the final vaccine, to a Cambridge university study commenting on India's policy response - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. Minister Harsh Vardhan said that while it would be premature to comment on the vaccine's cost, the government would ensure that it reaches those who need it the most. He added that a vaccine may be ready in the first quarter of 2021, i.e. the period from January to March. Vardhan said that he would be happy to volunteer to take the first dose of the vaccine. Meanwhile, a study by University of Cambridge said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'nudges' were key in creating herd effect regarding adherence to the lockdown and measures like social distancing. In education news, around 85-90% aspirants appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test held on September 13. Over 15 lakh candidates had registered to take the exam. In international news, China claimed that it is among the nations most quickly returning to normalcy. As per Chinese authorities, domestic air travel in Wuhan city has returned to pre-pandemic levels. Wuhan is the original epicentre of the outbreak.
