Covid update: Vaccination 2nd dry run on Jan 8; UK reports 1,000+ daily deaths

From the second dry run preparation in India to the UK reported over 1,000 deaths in a single day, here are the top updates on the coronavirus pandemic. The central government will be sending a team to Kerala to support public health interventions in the state. This comes after the state is reporting a “very high” number of daily coronavirus cases, as per the health ministry. India will be conducted a second dry run for vaccination in the country on January 8. All states and union territories to be part of the mock drill except Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, the health ministry informed. Union health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan will be meeting the health ministers of states and union territories on January 7. Meanwhile, schools in several states will be re-opening for different classes. The Punjab government announced that schools in the state will re-open for classes 5 to 12 from January 7.
