Delhi extends lockdown by a week, CM Kejriwal says 'alarming positivity rate'

- Delhi has extended lockdown for another week amid steep surge in Covid-19 cases. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “We declared lockdown last week due to a rise in Covid-19 cases. We are extending the lockdown in Delhi for another week. Lockdown in the Capital will continue till 5 am next Monday,” he said. “Even during lockdown, the Covid positivity rate went up to 37%. Delhi has also been facing shortage of medical oxygen recently. Delhi needs 700 tonnes of oxygen, the Centre has allotted 490 tonnes. We are still receiving 330-335 tonnes, full requirement is not reaching,” he added. Kejriwal further said, “We are working overtime for timely deliverable of oxygen to hospitals. We have also put in place a mechanism for oxygen management. Both Centre and Delhi govt are working hand-in-hand to fight back the crisis.”
