India attains highest single-day vaccination mark, administers 88 lakh jabs

- India achieved the highest single-day Covid vaccination mark under its nationwide drive. The country administered at least 8.82 million vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. The coronavirus vaccination coverage in India has also crossed the 55-crore mark. “India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage achieved a 55 crore milestone on August 16. Cumulatively, 554,730,609 doses have been administered through 6,212,108 sessions,” a statement issued by the union health ministry said. The previous high was on June 21 when 8.6 million doses were administered in a single day. On February 2, all frontline workers were included as part of the first phase vaccination. At present, India's recovery rate is the highest since March 2020; standing at 97.51%.
