Omicron variant of Covid-19 less severe? Here’s what new studies revealed

A growing body of evidence indicates that Omicron is more likely to infect the throat than the lungs. Early lab data and studies (yet to be peer-reviewed) throw light on mild disease. Omicron does not damage the lungs as much as the Delta and other coronavirus variants. It is widely believed that serious illness from Covid-19 occurs once the virus gets into the lungs. Experts say that chances of serious illness drop if coronavirus can be contained in the upper airways. Data shows it's more difficult for the Omicron strain of coronavirus to get inside and infect lung cells. Watch the full video for more.
