Over 600 empty oxygen cylinders intended for black marketing seized, man held

- A man has been arrested for allegedly selling empty oxygen cylinders at exorbitant prices in Ghaziabad. Incident comes amid a shortage of the life-saving gas due to surge in Covid-19 cases. Police said as many as 638 empty cylinders have been seized from a factory in Sahibabad. Police added that the arrested accused, Sameer is a resident of Shahdara in Delhi. Police said he has confessed he was selling empty cylinders at ₹10,000 to ₹30,000. “Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a person for black marketing oxygen cylinders. The accused has been arrested & a case has been registered against him,” said a police official. The owner of the factory, Jai Gopal Mehta of Preet Vihar Colony in Delhi is on the run. A case under Essential Commodities Act has been lodged & a hunt is on to nab the owner.
