Sputnik V now in India, and a reality check of government’s vaccine roadmap

India is finally beginning to use the third vaccine in its arsenal - Russia's Sputnik V - with the first dose being administered in a Hyderabad pilot project on May 14. However, what still plagues India's vaccination programme amid a second Covid-19 wave is shortage of doses. The government hopes that the country would have over 200 crore doses by the end of the year. However this is contingent on many factors, including approval of more vaccine candidates.
