The Supreme Court on March 11 rejected State Bank of India’s request for more time in sharing data of the now-scrapped electoral bonds scheme, and asked the state-run bank to disclose the details within 24 hours to the Election Commission of India. The top court also directed the Election Commission to publish the details on its website by March 15. The Supreme Court warned SBI of contempt proceedings if the bank doesn’t comply. The apex court had struck down the electoral bonds scheme on February 15 in a landmark judgement and asked SBI to release the details of the donors to Election Commission by March 6. SBI had asked for a three-month extension.
