Born in Himachal Pradesh, Preity Zinta came down to Mumbai to audition for a part in Shekar Kapur's Ta Ra Rum Pum Pum Pum. The film never took off and the spirited actress made her mark in the tinsel town in 1998 with Mani Ratnam's Dil Se. Since then, Preity has given a string of notable performances in films like Kya Kehna, Dil Chahta Hai, Soldier, Sangharsh, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir and Salaam Namaste.
